: Raanana continues to maintain its place as one of Israel’s safest cities!
Police statistics for January-December 2009 indicate that there was a sharp drop in most areas of property crimes in the city and this positive trend was also apparent in the number of serious accidents that took place in the city in comparison with the same period last year.
Police statistics indicate a decrease of 17.8 percent in the total amount of property crimes in the city. During these months, there were 440 break-ins in comparison to 491 cases in January –December 2008. This is a decrease of 10.4 percent. The number of car break-ins dropped to 266 cases from 448 cases. This is a decrease of 40.6%. Car thefts dropped to 194 cases in comparison to 260 last year. This is a decrease of 25.4%.
Mayor Nahum Hofree: “The Raanana Municipality is committed to assisting the Israel Police, as much as possible, in order to increase the residents’ sense of safety and we will continue to promote close cooperation between us, for the benefit of the city’s residents. The marked decrease in the crime rate indicates the success of our joint work with the police.”
