About 200 boys and girls in grades 5-6 competed as part of the city’s annual elementary school tournament

About 200 boys and girls in grades 5-6 took part in the traditional volleyball tournament held each year for the city’s elementary schools.   The tournament was held by the school sports department at the Aviv Sports Center, in a festive atmosphere of good sportsmanship.

During the tournament, the groups broke up into different groups and some of the games were close or ended in a tie, leading to another round.

The tournament was run by the Rimon Middle School’s volleyball department coach and coordinator, Tomer Rosiansky, and the middle school’s department students sat on the panel of judges.

The groups that made it to the girl’s final were from Shaked and Ziv Elementary Schools and the boy’s groups that made it to the final were from Shaked and Bilu.

At the end of the games, trophies were presented to the winners:

Shaked School – 2nd place in the boys and girls final.

Ziv School – First place in the girls final

Bilu School – first place in the boys final.

Mayor Nahum Hofree:  “I congratulate all the winning school teams on their achievements.  The tournament is a reflection of the success of our education system in leading and developing sports activity among the younger generation in the various fields of sports both professional and popular sports.”
